#Summerwine from Cariñena
It’s hot outside and the perfect time to indulge in cooler wines ideal for the season. Cariñena is renowned for its reds, but the region also offers an excellent selection of whites, white blends, and rosés. The whites feature native grapes such as Macabeo and Viura—and the noble grape, Chardonnay—while rosés are all Garnacha-based, including some very cool blends with Cabernet Sauvignon. These fruit-forward, vibrant, and refreshing choices pair well with classic summer dishes, from grilled veggies to barbecue chicken, salads and chilled soups.
Some to try: Viñas de Paniza Chardonnay; Monte Ducay Viura/Chardonnay from Bodegas San Valero; Corona De Aragón Macabeo/Chardonnay from Grandes Vinos. For rosés, consider Bodegas Paniza’s Agostón Garnacha Cabernet Sauvignon; Bodegas San Valero’s Particular Garnacha Rosé; and Grandes Vinos’ Beso de Vino Garnacha Rosé.
